MensLine Australia’s Changing for Good program
Fourth Action Plan actions
- Improve support and service system responses
- 18 Improve access to and embed trauma-informed support for perpetrators of domestic, family and sexual violence to prevent reoffending and promote rehabilitation and treatment.
What are we doing?
The MensLine Australia’s Changing for Good program will continue. This is a free voluntary program to help men to recognise their abusive behaviours, end their use of violence and make sustained changes in their behaviours and attitudes and help men stop using violence in their families and relationships.
The program provides access to specialist counsellors, works with men to identify and work towards their individual goals, and supports them to access additional services.
- The Commonwealth Government will provide $2.587 million between 2019–20 and 2021–22 to fund Changing for Good.
What have we achieved so far?
In 2019-20, 443 clients participated in the Changing for Good program, attending over 1,440 sessions.
What is next?
- Changing for Good is funded until 30 June 2022.
What difference will we make?
The intended outcomes of this program are that men who use violence access supports and services, implement self-management techniques, and change their behaviour. By working with men to end their use of violence, Changing for Good aims to help to increase the safety of women and children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic or family violence.
