What are we doing?

This initiative will ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are engaged with in a culturally appropriate way through the women’s safety contact program.

What have we achieved so far?

The South Australian Government is working with agencies currently delivering the women’s safety contact program to explore options to provide a culturally appropriate program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

What is next?

Culturally appropriate models are being considered, and service learnings from COVID-19 responses is informing this work.

What difference will we make?

The women’s safety contact program aims to increase the safety of women who have experienced domestic or Aboriginal family violence, have a current intervention order, and are not otherwise engaged with a specialist domestic and family violence support service.
