COAG Advisory Panel meets for first time
The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Advisory Panel to reduce violence against women and their children held their inaugural meeting on Friday 5 June 2015.
The Advisory Panel will run for up to 18 months and provide advice to Commonwealth, state and territory governments on how to best address violence against women and their children. The panel will provide three reports to COAG, which will include:
- a high level assessment of current approaches by all governments and areas for greater leadership;
- advice on the implementation of the three COAG priority areas. These include a national Domestic Violence Order (DVO) scheme, national standards for perpetrator interventions, and a national approach to dealing with online safety and the misuse of technology; and
- advice in relation to the future direction of the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children.
