1800RESPECT Procurement
The Department of Social Services conducted a two-stage open competitive procurement to secure a service provider to deliver 1800RESPECT, the national telephone and online counselling and information service for people affected by family, domestic and sexual violence. This included a Request for Expressions of Interest, followed by a Request for Tender and then an addendum on workplace sexual harassment to shortlisted respondents.
Following an extensive evaluation process, Telstra Health was awarded the contract to deliver 1800RESPECT from 1 July 2022 for five years, with the possibility of an extension.
The department will work closely with Telstra Health and the incumbent provider, Medibank Health Solutions, to ensure the service continues to provide the highest quality support to users throughout the service transition.

Public Interest Certificate
The public interest certificate for 1800RESPECT is issued under section 22(1) of the Government Procurement (Judicial Review) Act 2018 (the Act). All complaints made under the Act in relation to this procurement process must be made in writing to the delegate.
